At Cause or At Effect

If you think that you live in a world where things happen to you outside of your control, you can be said to be “at Effect”.  You have no choice other than to react to whatever may happen.  You are forever being blown about by the winds of chance.  You may believe in “luck”.  You are hurtling down a road blindfolded and you don’t know who is driving or if anyone is driving.  You are not responsible for what happens.  You have no power.  You are bound by happenstance.

If you believe that you live in a world that is a product of your own beliefs, you can be said to be “at Cause”.  You are in the driver’s seat.  You are responsible.  You have the power to control what happens.  If you don’t like it, you can change it.

You can choose whether to believe that you are “at Effect” or “at Cause”.  In truth, you are, and always have been, “at Cause”.  This is true whether you believe it or not.  That’s the peculiarity of universal truths, they don’t depend upon belief.  The only real choice that you have about this is whether you will create your experience of reality by default, pretending that you are not responsible, or on purpose, knowing that you are.  If you choose the path of responsibility, you will experience the feeling of freedom that comes with it.  There is no other genuine way to have that feeling.
