At Cause or At Effect

If you think that you live in a world where things happen to you outside of your control, you can be said to be “at Effect”.  You have no choice other than to react to whatever may happen.  You are forever being blown about by the winds of chance.  You may believe in “luck”.  You are hurtling down a road blindfolded and you don’t know who is driving or if anyone is driving.  You are not responsible for what happens.  You have no power.  You are bound by happenstance.

If you believe that you live in a world that is a product of your own beliefs, you can be said to be “at Cause”.  You are in the driver’s seat.  You are responsible.  You have the power to control what happens.  If you don’t like it, you can change it.

You can choose whether to believe that you are “at Effect” or “at Cause”.  In truth, you are, and always have been, “at Cause”.  This is true whether you believe it or not.  That’s the peculiarity of universal truths, they don’t depend upon belief.  The only real choice that you have about this is whether you will create your experience of reality by default, pretending that you are not responsible, or on purpose, knowing that you are.  If you choose the path of responsibility, you will experience the feeling of freedom that comes with it.  There is no other genuine way to have that feeling.

Why Beliefs Matter

What I believe about the world determines my experience of it.  A belief is an expectation.  Generally, I will find what I expect to find.  Psychologically, this has to do with what I am looking for.  It has to do with where I focus my attention.  It has to do with my field of vision.  If I am looking to the front, I will not notice what is behind me.

What I believe is true about the world provides a kind of conceptual map of the terrain.  My idea of where I am on my map will determine which way I think that I have to turn to get to where I want to go.  My beliefs control my decisions and the actions that come from them.  In that way, my beliefs control my behavior.  Together, my beliefs and my behaviors produce my outcomes.

But, on a more profound level, my beliefs determine my experience of the world because they actually create that experience.  The scriptural statement, “seek and ye shall find” is definite.  The statement is not “seek and ye may find” or “seek and you could find”.  It is not conditional.  It is definite because to “seek” something is to create it.  Of course you will find it.  You have created it.

A belief is merely a thought that you think repeatedly and hold to be true.  If you change your thought, you change your belief.  If you change your belief, you change the world that you live in.

You have control over the thoughts that you think.  You can choose them.  For that reason, you have control over the world that you live in.

Mistaken Identity

You probably think that you, as a human being, are a flesh and blood creature with a highly developed brain.  Maybe you think you have a soul.  Maybe you think you don’t.  You think you are your body.  I bet you think that your body, the Earth and the rest of the universe are made of solid matter ruled by objective reality which is pretty much explained by science.  You probably think: Most of the universe is made of inanimate objects ruled by natural laws.  Living things function in ways that are well understood.  Just like the rest of the animals, we are born, we live and we die.  Sometimes things just happen in an accidental way and some of us think that the entire Universe may have developed by chance.  Humans have very little control over what happens to them or to the world they live in.  Their lives are the effect of a cause they cannot comprehend or of no cause at all.  Life is a crapshoot.  It’s all a matter of luck.  If you think these things, you have a lot of company.  Most sane people that live in the “developed” world accept these ideas as facts.  We all know that this is how it is.  It hardly bears mentioning.

There is one minor problem with this bare bones world view, though.  It’s wrong.

Physics has shown us that solid matter is almost entirely made up of space.  That’s right, it’s over 99.99 percent space.  The tiny fraction that isn’t space is, what?  Well, it’s tiny particles, or is it waves?  Of what?  Energy!  Whatever that is.  Yes, patterns of energy.  Well, patterns, anyway.  Patterns of vibration of different frequencies, that’s what it is, maybe like vibrating strings.  Sure, that’s it.  Physical reality, the whole universe, is made up of patterns of vibration.  One thing is certain: it isn’t solid.

On the macro level, Newton’s clockwork universe runs just fine, thank you. The planets move in their predictable orbits.  All’s well with our familiar universe.  But on that pesky micro level it all falls apart.  That’s where matter stops being matter and turns out to be energized space.  Trouble is, that’s not what our senses tell us.  Our senses tell us that we live in solid bodies in a solid world.  No mistake about it.  Our perceptions are very convincing.  If I kick that rock, I’ll hurt my toe.  That seems pretty real to me.

Perception IS reality.  Any salesman will tell you that.  So, what is true is what we think is true.  Period.  As a matter of fact, we will always find abundant proof in our experience, in our world, to support our beliefs about reality.  We can easily prove that we are right.  We just look around and the proof is everywhere.  Just open your eyes and look, we tell a skeptic.  It’s as clear as the nose on your face.

Problem is that different people have different ideas about what is real.  And every different belief about the nature of reality is fully supported by experience.  It is equally real.  We are all right.  All of our beliefs about what is true are completely validated, yet we have different beliefs.  How can this be?  What about objective reality?  How can mutually contradictory beliefs about the nature of reality be equally validated in the minds of their believers.  How can we argue right and wrong in this situation when all beliefs, even contradictory ones, are equally validated by personal experience?  Obviously I am right in my conviction about what is true.  I wonder; how can those that believe otherwise be so blind and stupid and persistent in their error?  Of course, those others think exactly the same thing about me.  They wonder how can I be so blind and stupid and how I can hold onto my mistaken beliefs so stubbornly?  They wonder about me as I wonder about their intelligence and sincerity.  Apparently we live in different worlds.  But, we think there is just one world that we all share.  How can this conundrum be sorted out?  What is the answer?

First of all, let’s remember that the physical world exists in our senses and only in our senses.  To put it baldly, we are making it all up.  It’s real alright but not in the way that we thought.  My world is my world.  It’s personal and unique to me.  Your world is your world.  It’s personal and unique to you.  They are different worlds.  We meet each other and agree on certain assumptions about the nature of reality so we can relate to each other and feel that we share a common footing.  We have agreed on an idea of objective reality that we think is not personal.  Objective reality exists through agreement.  Having made this agreement, we think that we live in the one real world.  This belief is shaped by the culture that we grew up in and our acceptance of it happens on the subconscious level while we are very young.  Different cultures live in different worlds exactly in the way that human individuals live in different worlds.

We have to look inside ourselves to begin to unravel this puzzle.  We need to start with who we think we are.  I started out by laying out the materialistic view of who we are.  We think we are creatures with souls or not with souls.  Those souls are our grasp at transcendence, the hole card that gets us out of the box of oblivion, the inevitable endgame of death.  Some believe it, some don’t.  Some believe in an afterlife, some don’t.  I’m here to tell you that we have gotten it all backwards.  We are not animals with spirits or without spirits.  We are all spirits who have taken bodies.

Spirits are conscious energy.  They are part of the conscious energy that is the universe.  They have emerged from this energy but it cannot be said that they are born or that they die.  Spirits are drops of the ocean.  They are the ocean itself and yet they have independent experiences as drops.  The ocean is eternal.  So are the drops.

The “I” that resides behind your eyes and witnesses your life is your spirit.  That is who is driving.  That is who you are.  Your body is the suit of clothes that it has put on for the time being.  This “I” is conscious energy.  It constantly emits a vibration.  It is a vibration.  It is a vibration that is tuned by its own thoughts.  We could say that it takes a shape.  This shape attracts shapes that are like it or fit with it like puzzle pieces.  It attracts more similar shapes, which are vibrations, until their combined energy becomes great enough to be noticed by the senses of the emerging being.  Then they are perceived as physical reality.  They have manifested.  The physical world of the emerging being has popped into being.  The game of life on Earth is on.  The shape of that life depends on the vibration that is emitted.  The vibration that is emitted depends on the thoughts that are held in consciousness.  Personal reality starts with thought.  Personal reality is a mirror of the thoughts that created it.  As thoughts change, the world changes in exactly the same way.

Rather than being a random product of forces beyond our control, our lives are the product of our own thoughts.  Rather than being small, weak and subject to unknown forces, we are the creators of our own worlds.  As such, we are immensely powerful.  And yet, we cannot create the reality of another being because that fellow being is a powerful creator exactly like ourselves.  There are no aggressors as there are no victims.  There are only co-creators.  We are not who we thought we were.  We are something far different.  Our mistake has been a case of mistaken identity.

Anita Moorjani Testimony from the Inner World

Anita Moorjani decided to return to earthly life after her near death experience at the end of a losing four year battle with lymphatic cancer.  Her comments are the insights from an explorer to a place from which only a few return.  She is telling us about deep reality and our true nature and showing us the path to fulfillment of life on Earth.

Read her book, Dying to be Me, My Journey from Cancer to Near Death, to True Healing, Hay House USA, 2012, with a Foreword by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

“I had a choice to come back…or not.  I chose to return when I realized that ‘heaven’ is a state, not a place.”

“I want to clarify that my healing wasn’t so much born from a shift in my state of mind or beliefs as it was from finally allowing my true spirit to shine through.  Many have asked me if something like positive thinking caused my recovery, and the answer is no.  The state I was in during my NDE was way beyond the mind, and I healed because my damaging thoughts were simply out of the way completely.  I was not in a state of thinking but in a state of being.  It was pure consciousness – what I call magnificence!  This state of Oneness transcends duality.  I was able to get in touch with who I truly am, the part of me that’s eternal, infinite, and encompasses the Whole.  This definitely wasn’t a case of mind over matter.”

“I continued to be fully aware of every detail of every procedure that was being administered to me, while to the outside world I appeared to be in a coma.”

“It didn’t feel as though I’d physically gone somewhere else – it was more as though I’d awakened.”  Perhaps I’d finally been roused from a bad dream.  My soul was finally realizing its true magnificence!”

“The universe makes sense!  I realized.  I finally understand – I know why I have cancer!”

“Why do I suddenly understand all this? I wanted to know.  Who’s giving me this information?  Is it God?  Krishna?  Buddha?  Jesus?  And then I was overwhelmed by the realization that God isn’t a being, but a state of being!

“I became aware that we’re all connected.  This was not only every person and living creature, but the interwoven unification felt as though it were expanding outward to include everything in the universe – every human, animal, plant, insect, mountain, sea, inanimate object, and the cosmos.  I realized that the entire universe is alive and infused with consciousness, encompassing all of life and nature.  Everything belongs to an infinite Whole.  I was intricately, inseparably enmeshed with all of life.  We’re all facets of that unity – we’re all One, and each of us has an effect on the collective Whole.”

“I also understood that the cancer was not some punishment for anything I’d done wrong, nor was I experiencing negative karma as a result of any of my actions, as I’d previously believed.  It was as though every moment held infinite possibilities, and where I was at that point in time was a culmination of every decision, every choice, and every thought of my entire life.  My many fears and my great power had manifested as this disease.”

“Even though I always had a choice, I also discerned that there was something more…It feels as though I have a purpose of some sort yet to fulfill.  But what is it?  How do I go about finding it?”

“I perceived that I wouldn’t have to go out and search for what I was supposed to do - it would unfold before me.”

“I simply had to allow it to unfold”

“To access this state of allowing, the only thing I had to do was be myself!”  I realized that all those years, all I ever had to do was to be myself, without judgment or feeling that I was flawed.  At the same time, I understood that at the core, our essence is made of pure love.  We are pure love -  every single one of us.  How can we not be, if we come from the Whole and return to it?  I knew that realizing this meant never being afraid of who we are.  Therefore, being love and being our true self is one and the same thing!”

“As I experienced my biggest revelation, it felt like a bolt of lightning.  I understood that merely by being the love I truly am, I would heal both myself and others.”

“I knew that was really the only purpose in life: to be our self, live our truth, and be the love that we are.”

“As though to confirm my realization, I became aware of both my father and Soni communicating to me: Now that you know the truth of who you really are, go back and live your life fearlessly!”

She is doing that.

Do these fragments make a dent in the life you have created for yourself?  Do they raise any questions in your mind about deep reality?  As Anita points out, we are not in the universe, the universe is in us. To find answers, go within.

Really.

The Good News

You are loved.  No strings.  No conditions.  No ifs, no buts, no maybes.  You don’t have to do anything.  You don’t have to please anyone.  You are loved simply because you are.  You are loved because of who you are.  You are loved because of what you are.  Nothing can change that.  Nothing you could ever do could change that.  You are stuck with it – eternally.  You are loved with a love that you can’t even imagine here in this earth life.  You are home free.

There is nothing more important than feeling good.  The whole purpose of your being is to feel good.  That’s your only job.  There is no limit to how good it can get.  There is no limit to how good you can feel.

You have no limits.  You are the center of the universe.  In fact, you are not in the universe, the universe is in you.  You make it any way you want it to be.  Always have, always will.

You have always been here and you always will be.

There is nothing to fear – ever.

Is that good news or what?

Relax and take yes for an answer.

THE EARTH IS A SCHOOL

The earth is a school for everyone who lives on it.  We are all here to learn.  This is deep down  learning that touches the core of our being.  This is learning on the level of human consciousness.  It is happening all of the time.  If we are here, we are learning whether we are aware of it or not.  We have no choice in this.  It’s built into the situation of being alive.

The earth is a teaching machine.  Life on earth is perfect for promoting our learning.  It provides a level playing field that is ruled by a few consistent, unvarying principles.

They are: Every thought or action has consequences.  They spread like the ripples in a still pond expanding from the splash point of a stone.   We get our own consequences.

Everything is conscious. There are no animate and inanimate objects. All of “reality” is a sea of consciousness involved in a constant rolling boil of vibration.  The sea is self aware.

Everything is connected to everything else.  Separateness is a myth.  There is only the sea of consciousness that is made up of patterns within patterns of what we call “energy”.

Thoughts attract similar thoughts.  What I give out comes back.  What goes around comes around.  Think “boomerang”.

There are no “accidents”.  I have attracted everything that happens to me in my life with my thoughts, conscious or unconscious.

Only I can create in my experience.  No one can do anything to me without my involvement.  Nor can I create in the experience of anyone else.  There are no victims. I am safe.  We are all safe.

The “reality” that I know is perceptual and personal.  What I see as reality is a compelling total immersion visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, kinesthetic illusion. It is what my brain assembles from the vibratory inputs from my senses as they are filtered through my beliefs. If I change my thoughts (beliefs), I change my world.

The circumstances of my life are a constant printout of my dominant thoughts.  I can know what I believe by looking at what I am getting.  This is my report card.

My emotions are my guidance system.  I can tell instantly if a thought or action is in my best interest by whether it feels good or feels bad.  This is my compass.

And that’s it!  Class is in session.  Take your seat.

How To Get What You Want

This post is a distillation of my earlier one. I wrote it to serve as the introductory text for a workshop that I conduct called "Manifesting 101". It is a short outline, simplified for easy digestion, but it captures the gist of what I believe to be true about human reality. It is the quick start section of an operator's manual for human life.

We live in a vibratory universe. Everything is vibration or patterns of moving energy, even us. Physics tells us that matter is mostly empty space. What we call “reality” is the interpretation of vibrations that our senses detect. The “solid” reality that we perceive is an illusion much like a dream.

Thoughts are patterns of vibration that we emit. These patterns attract other similar patterns of energy. As more and more like thoughts clump together their power grows until they begin to appear in the experience, the physical world of the thinker. This is called manifestation.

Everything that we experience in our world began as thought. Manifestation is congealed or solidified thought that has been held in the mind of the thinker long enough.

What has been created by thought can be changed by thought.

You have the power to choose, change and direct your thoughts.

You can cause, attract or allow the manifestation of whatever you wish.

We, as beings, are patterns of energy. We are pure non-physical energy that has chosen to become physical on Earth for the purpose of having new experiences, making new choices and experiencing joy.

Our purpose on Earth as well as in non-physical realms is to conceive desires, manifest them and experience the joy of their creation. This is our only job.

No matter what we do, we cannot get it wrong.

Every experience causes us to learn, or expand, and to find desires for improvement. We are desire creators. Our “work” will never be done.

We are eternal beings. We cannot “die”. The part of us that has chosen to be physical simply drops out of this manifestation when we have had enough of it. We don’t go anywhere. There is nowhere else to go.

Time and space are human constructs. There is only one place which we can call “here” or “is”. The time is always “now”. We have no choice other than to be here now. The only choice we have is whether we will focus our attention and realize and inhabit the immediacy of the moment or not

You are a powerful creator. You are creating your reality from moment to moment and you always have been.

Where you are is perfect, exactly as it is.

Your dreams and desires are perfect. You can bring them into manifestation by focusing your thoughts. What you pay attention to is what you get. If you keep your attention pointed in the direction of your desires, they will show up in your life.

There are simple tools and techniques to help you to do just that.

I can teach you those tools.
